Purpose of the guideline: Chronic critical ill disease (CCI), referred to as chronic severe disease, refers to a type of patient whose condition changes from acute to chronic after effective treatment, but still needs long-term organ function maintenance. With the advancement of modern medicine, the number of CCI patients is also increasing year by year. Relevant epidemiological studies have shown that 5% ~ 15% of mechanically ventilated patients in the ICU in the United States develop CCI, and there are problems that need to be solved urgently, such as high treatment cost, long treatment time, and high mortality rate. Compared with the results of the epidemiological survey in the United States (the prevalence rate of CCI is 7.6%, 250,000/3.2 million), the prevalence of CCI in China (30.7%) is higher, the number of patients is larger, and the social impact is far-reaching.
