Evidence classification method: This guideline will strictly follow the GRADE (grading the quality of evidence and the strength of recommendations) approach for grading the quality of evidence. We will focus on the themes (PICO issues) listed by the guideline steering group and the key outcomes and important outcomes that have been agreed by the guideline development group, prioritizing the search and inclusion of randomized controlled trials for systematic review. The evidence from randomized controlled trials will be initially recognized as high quality, and the five downgrading factors (study limitation, inconsistency of results, indirectness of evidence, imprecision, publication bias) will be considered one by one to determine the final quality; when the number of randomized controlled trials is insufficient, we will expand the search scope and include observational studies for systematic review. The evidence from observational study will be initially recognized as low quality and the three upgrade factors (large magnitude of an effect, dose-response gradient, and effect of plausible residual confounding) will be considered one by one to determine the final quality. In addition, taking into account the characteristics of Chinese medicine, classical literature, Chinese medical records and expert consensus will also be searched for the reference of recommendations and syndrome differentiation indications making, these will all be determined as very low-quality evidence.
